Get excited:  it's Erotic Art Week in Trinidad.

And in a country that's sometimes apeing Sudan in the erotic department, it was enough to get us to put down our copy of Two Chicks Per Stick 2, and head to Open UP... the spoken word portion of Erotic Art Week, staged at Corner Bar last night.  Try:  stimulating, juicy, steamy and any other word that makes you think of sex... including moments of the wrath-raising stuff (you know, like limp, dry and... well, you get the idea).  This particular flirtation with 'extremism' could not have been more timely, however, as politically unfashionable conversations surrounding sex education, gay rights and sex workers continue to surface in the twin-island Republic.

Open UP attracted its share of local litterateurs, artistes and a fascination with sapphism and cunnilingus (yes, at the same time), and offered thrilling testimonies from Sheldon Holder of 12 the Band, Janique Dennis and Muhammad Muwakil - clearly the night's star.  Things we could've done without:  the 14-year old models in the Chiz'l Menswear 2009 collection.  And, just a thought:  there's something not-so-erotic about grown-ups giggling nervously at the sound of the word 'pussy'.
