Machel's Moves

Posted by The Editor on Sun, Jan 24th 2010, 05:01

Trinidadian soca star Machel Montano has taken an hiatus from Carnival - bowing out of any performances, and cancelling his annual Alternative Concept show, for the 2010 season.  And since it would be a matter of journalistic irresponsibility not to do so otherwise, the Trinidad Guardian decided to find out why.

In what promises to be a series of investigative (read: speculation mixed with hearsay, allegedly) reports, the paper digs deep into Montano's history as an artist, his influence in the local industry, and his inability to parlay that stardom into a more global phenomenon.  Vincentian Kevin Lyttle is mentioned somewhere along the line, in what can be seen as a stab at Montano's big fish/little pond preference.
