Gimme More Vino

Corks

If you’ve been to Trinidad for Carnival before, then the value of a great pre-fete spot is not lost on you.  And not to sound like raging alcoholics, but the value of a great pre-fete spot with alcohol is not lost on us either.

Which is why we don’t pussyfoot when it comes to patronising More Vino, a staple on Woodbrook’s famous Ariapita Avenue.

You’ll find it on the corner of O’Connor Street and Ariapita Avenue, earthy and modern, purveyor of all things distilled and inebriating.  The deck is littered with tables for four, and surrounded by lattice work, soft, netted lights and views of the street.  Take your pick of the drinks menu:  red or white wine, vodka, cognac or absinthe, and settle in for some refined rabble-rousing.  A great spot for you and the boys (or you and the girls - Wednesday’s good for martinis), More Vino has captured the art of a night out – a hookah is involved.  While this pseudo-opium den offers a full lunch menu, get acquainted with the tapas servings.  We regularly lust after the Pamaken Calamari – it’s deep fried, and served with a sweet Pama pomegranate liquer sauce and a savoury Heinekin beer sauce.

Heinekin beer sauce? Why are you still reading?
