We're always on the lookout for ways to up our 'caring' quotient. And when it comes to vacations, nightlife and the environment, it's really easy to be misunderstood. Really, can't we have our champagne in biodegradable glasses and drink it too?
So imagine how high our collective heart soared when we found the Garden Suite at the Montpelier Plantation Inn, in Nevis.
This estate stands elegantly against the Nevis hillside, offering guests a trendy minimalism mixed with 18th-century plantation charm. Awash with bamboo, large jalousie windows and enough modern conveniences to help any eco-techo-nut find peace, the Garden Suite is the hotel's first attempt at going green. You'll enjoy the large walk-in rain fall shower – complemented nicely by the iPod docking station and espresso machine; before dinner, unwind in your breezy, private gazebo to the soft hum of island life (or... the soft whirring of wifi access as you check your email – workaholics, we see you). There's no beach on-site, but the 60-foot pool should hold you over.
Yes, Mr. Environmental, it's a sacrifice we think you can make.
