Tribe

This is the season to give thanks. Really, where would the world be without pasties, body paint and beautiful women to apply them to? Throw in some feathers and you’ve got yourself a par-tay…

The nature of Carnival almost always guarantees that you’ll be surrounded by lithe, scantily-clad, gorgeous women (yes, men too), with their hot, sweaty bodies gyrating constantly, pressing up against your… well, you get the idea. And no one does scantily-clad and gorgeous better than Tribe. With its 2009 Birds of a Feather presentation, Tribe continues its five-year dash as one of Trinidad’s premiere bands. Band sections are fashioned after 15 exotic birds from around the world, and this year promises to be the band’s most vibrant exhibition. Admittedly less a traditional Carnival band than a two-day all-inclusive experience, you’d do well to note that modesty is not part of the band’s vernacular. To play in Tribe would require… chutzpah.

Along with daring costumes, Tribe offers a well-stocked, Premium bar, daily meals and private Security. We thought you might appreciate the mobile, air-conditioned resting stations, misty cool zones, and mobile bathrooms too. So grab your shiny short shorts and experience the band. Masqueraders may take a more subdued approach to Carnival Monday – this is normal; you’ll want to exert your energy on Carnival Tuesday, when the main judging (and wanton acts of hysteria) takes place. Hang around one of the music trucks, grab a bottle of water and stay hydrated. For now we’d recommend you keep your booze sporadic and your waist serviceable. During Carnival, women seem to have an unnatural fascination with dancing with strangers…

Now would be a good time to point out that the band is notoriously difficult to access: you would need a Tribe Loyalty Card if you want priority registration, specially-priced tickets to Tribe events, and special discounts at Tribe affiliates.

But we know a guy who knows a guy…
